I can't believe it has been 10 months since I have posted and honestly I feel really bad about that. But I am finally here and hopefully I will be able to catch up on the last 10 months. They have been super busy and watching this sweet baby boy grow into a little boy has been the best experience of my life.
So when I last posted the little guy was almost 4 months old and now he is 14 months old! So much has happened and I am sure I will leave stuff out but here goes.....
So at 5 months, it was Halloween and of course my little guy was a monkey. After all I have been calling him monkey since he was in my tummy! It was a very busy night for him and by the time we hit the 4th house he was passed out in the stroller. We had a great time with the neighbors but we called it a night early as this little guy was very tired.
At 6 months it was Thanksgiving and Uncle John came for a visit. He had a blast and Uncle John spoiled him. He loved spending time with him and daddy but honestly he was ready to go back to daycare and his normal routine. I just love it that this little boy loves going to school and seeing his friends and teachers. At Thanksgiving time he was trying so hard to sit up all by himself but didn't quite master it in November but boy could he roll and he would roll from one side of the room to the other so quick it was crazy.
At 7 months it was Christmas! This was so very special to me.....I couldn't believe I finally had my own family for Christmas. We savored each and every moment and memory that we could. And we worked to combine both of the traditions we grew up with into ones that we could share with our little miracle. The weekend before Christmas, he finally mastered sitting up on his own for the first time while we celebrated Christmas with his God Parents. He had a blast and loved tearing the paper. Then it was Christmas Eve and we were celebrating with my Dad, Stepmom & my brother's family and while eating dinner he said MaMa & DaDa all by himself. To say that we were excited was an understatement. We went to church with Chris's parents and my Mom & Stepdad and it was amazing. I just couldn't believe I was sitting there with a happy healthy litte boy!
At 8 months it was the New Year and lots of family birthdays. Our little guy was crawling technically.....he would pull himself with his arms and push with his feet but wouldn't do the traditional crawl. It was so funny. He would get up on all fours then look at you and smile and go back to what we called the millitary crawl! He was so funny! He was also pulling up on everything and standing up for several seconds before falling down.
At 9 months old it was Februrary and daddy's 40th birthday and of course Valentines Day. And to top it off daddy had to have knee surgery so mommy had two babies to take care of. My boys were very good to me for Valentine's Day and again it was surreal for me to have my first Valentine's Day as a mommy. I have had so many little cries since this miracle was born and I wouldn't trade any of them! By the end of Feb our little monkey was really trying to walk and I couldn't believe it! This also marked the start of ear infections for our sweet baby boy. He was also still on track growth wise and was 50% for weight and 90% for height (obviously got that from daddy)! Colton got Daddy a webcam for his computer since he travels for work and the look on my sweet boys face when he saw Daddy and heard him on the computer for the first time was priceless. He loves talking to Daddy on the computer and they sing together everytime. He loves to sing!
At 10 months old he went on his first camping trip to Canyon Lake. He had a great time and slept like a champ the whole time. He was still trying very hard to walk but didn't quite have it just yet. He was also talking a lot however he would say dada dada dada dada but not mama at all. Infact when I would tell him to say mama he would laugh and say dada dada dada! My little monkey. We continued to get ear infections and colds and I thought we were living in the pedi's office! However we were well enough at the end of March to take a little vacation to San Antonio to visit the zoo & Sea World. Colton loved Sea World....he had a blast but his reaction to Shamu was priceless. It was the last show of the day and they are playing all the video and the music and he is standing up in my lap paying very close attention, then suddenly Shamu jumped out of the water and he freaked out and litterally crawled over my shoulder. After a few minutes he was ok and enjoyed the rest of the show standing in mommy's lap!
At 11 months old, mommy couldn't believe that she was planning his 1st birthday! And we finally got our first tooth, unfortunately we cut our first tooth at the same time that we had double ear infections! That was a very very long weekend. We also did the annual March of Dimes March for Babies. That was a very emotional day for me since again I couldn't believe after all the years of walking I was finally walking with my baby. And as always we were so happy to see all the growing babies! It was also our first Easter as a family. And yes again emotional for mommy but such a blessing for sure.
And finally May, our little monkey's first birthday! What a blessing and yes mommy had a good cry for herself. The first week of May our little guy started taking 3-4 steps at a time all by himself! By the time his birthday came he was taking 4 steps then squatting and getting back up and taking a few more steps. For his birthday we had a choo choo train birthday party at our house. However he did NOT like playing in his birthday cake. Mommy made him a big choo choo train cake (pics to come soon) and the engine was all his. However as soon has he put his hands in it he started crying! It was great! The week after his first birthday, he began walking all on his own and it was only a few days before he was running! This has kept this mommy on the run for sure. May was also my first official Mother's Day and what a day it was! My boys were so good to me and my sweet boy gave me the best gift ever that day! I was feeding him oatmeal & yogurt for breakfast and he looked me in the eye, smiled the sweetest smile and said mama mama mama. He again said mama two more times that day, however he only says mama very sparringly. I am lucky to hear it once a week! LOL! We also took 1st birthday pics & family pics (posting soon). At his 1 year Dr appt, we found out that he was officially 1/2 mommy's height at 31 in tall! So he was again 50% for weight & 90% for height. May was especially bad for little monkey and his ears. In the span of 3 weeks we had two sets of double ear infections getting the second set while still on antibiotics for the first set! This earned him a one way ticket to the ENT.
At 13 months old, we started out the month getting tubes in our ears. That was stressful for mommy and daddy but he was a champ! When they went in he had only been off medicine for 3 days and he already had fluid on both ears and the beginning of infections again. But thankfully they were able to get the tubes in. Mommy experienced the hardest thing so far as a mommy, they put him to sleep while he was in my arms and when I had to hand him over to the Dr and leave the OR, I almost lost it! It killed me to see him that way but only about 15 minutes later he was back in my arms and doing well. We ended up with infections again 2 weeks after the tubes, but we seem to be doing well now. So we are hoping a praying that this was the fix for his little ears. I just hate seeing him in pain and sick!
And here we are at July 2012! Our sweet boy moved up in daycare from the 2nd level baby room to the first level toddler room! That was a hard day for mommy but Colton was just fine. On that Monday I took him to his baby room and he ate breakfast then they told me they would start transitioning him and that usually it takes a week or two. Because now they have a different schedule and only nap once a day. Well my little monkey went into the big boy room with no problems and stayed there the entire day the first day without any problems. When I picked him up, I couldn't believe it and he was VERY tired! The next day when I dropped him off they said go ahead and take him to the new room since he did so well yesterday, so I did. I sat him at the table in his chair with his picture on the back and they put breakfast in front of him and he was as happy as could be. I gave him a kiss and he litterally dismissed me, by looking at me smiling and waving me off. It killed me and I cried all the way to work.....I was so proud of him but so sad he was such a big boy! So my little monkey transitioned in one yes one day! He loves his new class but misses his best friend Dimetrius, but he will be moving up very soon too. In fact that was another big event in July, we celebrated two friends birthday's by going to their birthday parties. So now my baby has a social calendar!
So that is the shortened version of our lives over the last 10 months! I hope you enjoyed catching up with us and I may God Bless each and everyone of you! (I will be posting some pics later tonight too)
